FUMC Marshall is a place where you can discover all God has for you, be challenged in your walk with Jesus, and be encouraged by others who are on the journey with you.
Discovering new and meaningful ways of ministering to an ever-changing culture with the never-changing "good news" and love of Jesus Christ.
WHAT WE DO
Look for opportunities to encourage and to be encouraged in our faith journey. We do this through worship, Bible studies, fellowship gatherings, and community outreach opportunities.
Ours is a community rich in tradition and faith. Over 150 years of providing a place where God's presence can be known and experienced; a place where thousands of lives have been impacted by the love of Jesus Christ; a place where people have found meaningful ways to live in the rich life that Jesus offers; and a place that strives to remain faithful to our Christian heritage in a contemporary manner.

David Luckert, Lead Pastor
David has been in pastoral ministry for over 35 years serving local churches across East Texas. Throughout that time, his passion has always been for people to know and experience the very real love God has for them, and to help people to grow in their faith, worship, sevice, prayer, and giving experiences. He and his wife Cathy love serving the church, exploring the outdoors, and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
Harold Coburn, Associate Pastor
Harold came to FUMC Marshall after retiring from ministry at Bethel UMC in Elysian Fields and works with Heart to Heart Caring and Prayer Ministry and with Senior Adults. Harold has been a bi-vocational minister for over 50 years and is a graduate of University of Louisiana/Monroe and of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
First Connect Director
Robert has been with FUMC Marshall since 2011 and has served in christian music ministry since 1984. Although much of Robert’s ministry is focused in the First Connect worship service, he is involved with the television/media ministry, and as with other staff, involved in many other areas of our church. He and his wife Lori have two amazing children and an amazing daughter-in-law. It seems the entire family is involved with FUMC Marshall’s ministries in one way or another.
Mobolaji Laja-Akintayo a.k.a BJ is the Director of Student Ministries at FUMC Marshall. BJ has been serving in full time ministry for over five years. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a minor in Theatre Arts with a concentration in Music from Texas A&M University. From Middle Schoolers to College Seniors, BJ’s passion is to walk alongside his students and show them how real, transformative and satisfying an intimate relationship with Jesus can be. BJ has 9 nieces and nephews who challenge him daily to live with childlike wonder: Jadon, Londyn, twins Christian + Chloe, Eden, Abel, Dallas, Mabel and Marvel.
Sandy has been involved in Children's Ministry for over 30 years. She has also been married to her amazing husband, Ben for over 30 years, and has two wonderful daughters. What began as a volunteer position in church as a teenager, eventually became a God-calling into teaching and ministering to children full time. Although Sandy feels blessed to be able to spend time with children of all ages, she is most excited about ministry with pre-school and elementary age kids. They are so filled with joy, love, innocence and laughter. God calls children a true gift and blessing, and it is our job to cherish and nurture their faith as they grow in their identity in Christ. I am humbled and grateful to be a part of this amazing ministry!
